Senior IT Engineer
Feel pride in the quality of your work.
Are you an experienced IT Engineer ready to lead complex projects for some of the biggest names in hospitality? Doetaylor Ltd is an innovative, fast-moving IT solutions provider with a reputation for exceptional workmanship. We're looking for a senior-level professional to take ownership of high-profile deployments and help raise the bar for everything we deliver.
Why Join Us?
You'll be joining a team that values honesty, integrity, and quality — working on projects that genuinely make a difference. As a senior member, you'll have real autonomy, the chance to mentor junior engineers, and a clear pathway to grow with a company that invests in its people.
This role also comes with a genuine perk that's hard to put on a CV: you'll be working in hospitality, which means meeting some brilliant, welcoming people and visiting remarkable venues across the UK. The occasional breakfast, lunch, or dinner courtesy of a grateful client? We won't pretend that doesn't happen.
What You'll Do
- Design, configure, and deploy network infrastructure — switches, routers, wireless systems, and firewalls.
- Lead on-site IT installations and commissioning across diverse commercial environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and systems issues, often as the lead technical presence on site.
- Oversee structured cabling installations and ensure everything meets industry standards.
- Manage and support integrated solutions including CCTV, access control, and AV systems.
- Be the technical point of contact for clients — professional, clear, and confident.
- Support and mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and raising team standards.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in IT infrastructure, networking, or systems engineering in a field-based or client-facing role.
- Strong working knowledge of networking fundamentals — switching, routing, VLANs, wireless, and firewalls.
- Hands-on experience with platforms such as Cisco Meraki, Ubiquiti UniFi, Fortinet, or similar.
- Comfortable with structured cabling, rack builds, and on-site IT deployments.
- A sharp eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently under pressure.
- A people person — you'll be meeting a wide variety of clients and stakeholders, and building good relationships is as important as the technical work.
- A valid UK driving licence (minimal endorsements) with at least three years' driving experience.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are desirable but not essential.
Training and Development
We're committed to keeping our team at the leading edge. You'll have access to ongoing training and support in:
- Networking — deepening your knowledge across switching, routing, and enterprise infrastructure.
- Wireless — advanced Wi-Fi design, deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Cyber Security — building skills in modern security principles, tools, and best practices.
Whether you're working toward a certification or just want to stay sharp, we'll back you.
What We Offer
- Flexibility with five days a week and the opportunity to travel throughout the UK from a London base — the occasional early start or late finish comes with the territory.
- You'll have everything you need from day one — all tools, PPE, uniform, phone, and laptop provided, along with access to our modern company fleet. When you're not on the road, our head office has on-site parking, a café, and a great location to make the commute worthwhile.
- A senior role with genuine responsibility and autonomy from day one.
- Clear development pathways and the opportunity to grow as the business grows.
- See the world (a bit): Our work takes us across some wonderful venues and locations throughout the UK. We also have active projects across most of Europe, and clients in the US, Australia, and beyond — so for the right person, there are genuinely exciting opportunities to travel internationally.
Where You'll Be Based
Our head office is located at the Business Design Centre in Islington, North London — a landmark converted Victorian exhibition hall that's home to a thriving community of creative and tech businesses. It's a great place to work, with excellent transport links, on-site parking, a café, and plenty going on around it.
We are an equal opportunities employer. If you're ready to bring your expertise to a team that takes real pride in its work — and you don't mind the occasional five-star hotel visit — we'd love to hear from you.
