Full job description

Surecare Group has been providing general nursing care for our residents since 2003. Our homes operate under our ethos ‘Care, Quality & Compassion’ which is at the heart of everything we do.

Old Vicarage Nursing Home is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to work efficiently within a commercial or institutional catering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the preparation of food under the direction of the Cook/Chef.
Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients as required.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment promptly and thoroughly.
Dispose of waste and recycling in line with company policies and local regulations.
Support the team with stock rotation, storage, and ensuring ingredients are fresh.
Follow all Health & Safety, COSHH, and food hygiene regulations at all times.
Assist with basic cooking tasks where appropriate.
Report any equipment faults or hazards to the Cook/Chef immediately.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
Minimum of one year’s experience in commercial or institutional catering.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Good time management and organisational skills.
Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
