Jack Nicholas Group Ltd are looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Worker / Press Operator to join our busy fabrication team in Baldock.
We are a UK-based metal fabrication company specialising in precision sheet metalwork, bespoke steelwork, architectural metalwork, and high-quality fabricated components for the construction, commercial and retail sectors.
We are looking for someone who is hands-on, reliable, and confident working with sheet metal to a high standard.
Role Overview
The role will involve working within our production workshop, carrying out sheet metal fabrication duties including folding, cutting, drilling, and preparing components to tight tolerances.
The successful candidate must have previous experience setting and operating a press brake.
Main Duties Include:
- Setting and operating a press brake
- Folding sheet metal to tight tolerances
- Cutting sheet metal to size
- Cutting, drilling and preparing box section
- Reading and working from engineering drawings
- Checking parts against drawings and job requirements
- Working accurately to customer specifications
- Working with mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel
- Maintaining a clean and safe working area
- Supporting the wider fabrication team when required
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience setting and operating a press brake
- Previous experience as a Sheet Metal Worker, Press Brake Operator or Fabricator
- Ability to fold sheet metal accurately to tight tolerances
- Experience cutting and drilling box section
- Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings
- Good attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team
- Positive, practical and hands-on attitude
Desirable But Not Essential:
- Experience within a steel fabrication or architectural metalwork environment
- Experience using workshop machinery and hand tools
- MIG/TIG welding experience would be beneficial, but is not essential
