NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership has secured Gambling Levy funding to deliver a whole-system, prevention-led programme to reduce gambling related harms locally. We are seeking a Health Improvement Senior to support the development and implementation of this agenda, working across health, social care, third sector and community planning partners.

The role:

The post holder will play a key role in developing and coordinating delivery of gambling harms prevention and early intervention, supporting workforce capacity building, strengthening support pathways and embedding gambling harm awareness within existing services and our communities. The role will contribute to tackling inequalities, reducing stigma and supporting people and communities affected by gambling harms.

You will have experience in public health and health improvement, partnership working and community based approaches, with strong skills in coordination, engagement and outcome focused delivery. Knowledge of inequalities, prevention approaches and working across statutory and third sector partners is essential; experience of gambling harms or related public health issues is desirable.

This is an opportunity to be part of an innovative, learning-led programme aligned to national and local public health priorities and to make a meaningful contribution to reducing gambling harms in East Dunbartonshire.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

This is a fixed-term post of 3 years, working 36 hours per week.

The role is based in Kirkintilloch Health & Care Centre.

The shift pattern is to be confirmed.

Key responsibilities:

Plan, develop and implement health improvement work streams in line with national / regional / local strategies. Responsible for ensuring work streams are inequalities sensitive, reflect need and build on existing evidence to maximise the impact on health gain and reduced health inequalities
Support and develop partnerships to work collaboratively to secure new and sustainable funding to continue existing and develop new health improvement initiatives and services, ensure that appropriate implementation and monitoring systems are in place.
Undertake a senior role in delivering health improvement work streams in partnership with others including chairing meetings and participating in relevant forums and committees. Contribute to the development, co-ordination and implementation of health improvement frameworks across Partnerships / Locality / Primary Care / HSCP and be responsible for risk management for these work areas.
Where appropriate, contribute to the design and development of health improvement policy, practice implementation and capacity building across a range of settings (local, regional and national and contributing to key policy drivers, such as; HSCP Delivery and associated Service plans / LOIP’s / GGC Public Health Strategy and Community Planning Partners
Deliver specific aspects of research programmes contained within the Health Improvement plan and disseminate research and evaluation findings from health improvement initiatives to others in order to inform and develop evidence-based practice.
