Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Groundwork Subcontractor to join our team for upcoming construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of groundwork operations, safety procedures, and site preparation. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality infrastructure development while working within a professional environment. The position is paid and suitable for experienced subcontractors looking to expand their portfolio or establish long-term collaborations.

Ability to work away from home is essential

Responsibilities

Prepare construction sites by clearing, excavating, and levelling ground surfaces in accordance with project specifications.
Operate and maintain groundwork machinery such as diggers, loaders, and compactors safely and efficiently.
Assist with the installation of foundations, drainage systems, and other sub-surface infrastructure components.
Follow health and safety regulations diligently to ensure a secure working environment for all team members.
Collaborate closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades to ensure timely progress.
Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored correctly after use.
Report any issues or hazards encountered on site promptly to minimise risks and delays.

Skills

Proven experience in groundwork or civil engineering projects.
Knowledge of site safety protocols and the ability to implement them effectively.
Competence in operating construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, and compactors.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently across multiple tasks.
Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and site management.
Ability to read technical drawings and interpret project plans accurately.
Physical fitness to perform manual tasks in varying weather conditions.
Relevant certifications or qualifications in plant operation or health & safety are desirable but not essential. This role provides an engaging opportunity for experienced groundwork subcontractors committed to delivering quality results on demanding construction sites within a professional setting.

Pay: £16.50-£24.00 per hour
