Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Chip Shop Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting the daily operations of our busy fish and chip shop, ensuring customers receive excellent service and high-quality food. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, possess good organisational skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in a restaurant or food service setting is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience within the hospitality industry.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook traditional fish and chips, along with other menu items, maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene
Serve customers efficiently at the counter, taking orders and handling payments accurately
Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and dining area
Upsell additional items such as drinks or sides to maximise sales opportunities
Ensure all food preparation complies with health and safety regulations
Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service
Restock supplies as needed and assist with inventory checks
Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly and addressing any enquiries

Experience

Previous experience in food preparation or restaurant service is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for those new to the industry
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is advantageous
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
Experience in kitchen operations or culinary roles can be beneficial
Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks efficiently during peak hours
Ability to upsell menu items confidently to enhance customer experience and sales performance

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £24,420.00-£43,179.05 per year
