Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Playgroup Assistant to support early childhood development within our community nursery. This role involves working closely with young children to facilitate engaging activities, promote learning, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate leadership qualities to assist in creating a positive playgroup experience. Previous nursery or early childhood education experience is preferred, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Assist in planning and delivering age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development
Support children during playtime, ensuring their safety and engagement at all times
Help maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment for children and staff
Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication
Supervise children both indoors and outdoors, ensuring adherence to safety protocols
Support the implementation of nursery policies and procedures in line with regulatory standards
Assist in behavioural management strategies to encourage good conduct and cooperation among children
Contribute to the organisation of daily routines such as snack times, nappy changes, and story sessions
Catering and cleaning duties are also expected.

Experience

Proven experience working with young children in a childcare or nursery setting is highly desirable
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Previous experience in childcare roles such as nursery assistant or similar positions preferred
