Job Role
Reporting to the Managing Surveyor, this role holds accountability in supporting, coaching and mentoring the Building Surveyors, Assistants and Trainees within the designated region.
Co-ordinating the internal structure of the regional inspection team, implementing company policies and achieving company goals and objectives to ensure a competent and compliant working environment and that quality standards are consistently met.
Working with the Management team, you will drive consistency and standardisation in expectations, policy, process and approach across the Group. Support communications across the Building Control and Warranty divisions and for communications within your individual regions. Demonstrate commitment towards driving a united approach across all the regions, adopting the one team ethos.
You will also be responsible for completing inspection in line with Building Regulation compliance and the ICW Technical standards identifying defects and areas of non-compliance through initial instruction to completion of works.
You will also assist in the development, mentoring and supervision for surveyors progressing through the RBI process and registration classes (scope extensions).
Key Accountabilities

Advising clients on building regulation and warranty related matters to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations, standards and associated legislation.

Carry out inspections of work during construction to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations, standards and associated legislation on a multi discipline of projects and uploading / inputting site records accordingly.

Carry out inspections on behalf of other Building Surveyors where the work falls outside their registered classification.
Key Duties

Acting as main point of contact on complex matters relation to building regulations and warranty items.

Mentor and support training mechanisms in-line with the needs of the company’s training. Ensure technical standards are met during construction

Ensure your work meets with the internal QMS policy and procedures.

Use a variety of software packages, including all MS Office products.

Ensure all company key performance indicators (KPIs) are met.

Promote the company to contribute to growth

Inspect newly constructed and/or converted properties, working closely with Developers and Builders to ensure, as far as is reasonably possible, the works are in accordance with the Technical Manual and Building Regulations.

Record inspection details on the data base and communicate comments to customers.

Effectively self-manage, by forward planning own workload, to provide a responsive, helpful and professional service whilst efficiently managing time spent on site.

Liaise with Surveyors and Managers on technical matters to ensure that standards are maintained and procedures adhered to.

Mentor and support other staff.

Maintain own professional memberships and registered building inspector qualification through ongoing professional development.

Undertake any other duties as reasonably required across the ICW Group.

Essential Criteria
-
Chartered Membership of relevant professional body (RICS, CABE,CIOB)

Registered Building Inspector at level 2F

Experience of plan assessment and inspection of residential, mixed-use, and commercial developments within Building Control is essential.

Able to demonstrate a competent understanding whilst having the necessary ability, knowledge, and skill to complete the role successfully.

Good communication skills both verbal and written with appropriate interpersonal skills.

Ability to effectively manage a varied and busy workload.

Able to work with the minimum of supervision, in line with established policies and procedure.

Knowledge of environmental issues and relevant standards/legislation.

IT literate with the ability to use a range of software programmes.
