Ballymena, Northern Ireland | Full Time | Competitive Salary

About MB Motors

MB Motors NI is one of Northern Ireland's leading independent used car dealerships, based in Ballymena. As a Bosch-Approved Service Centre, we hold ourselves to the highest standards across vehicle preparation, servicing, and aftersales. Our workshop is a busy, professional environment and a key part of the business.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Workshop Controller to take ownership of our workshop operations — someone who can plan and manage workflow effectively, keep the team running smoothly, and still isn't afraid to pick up the tools when needed. This is a pivotal role in the business, bridging the gap between the front of house and the workshop floor.

The right person will be a natural leader with strong organisational skills, a hands-on background, and a genuine passion for the trade. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and take pride in running a tight, productive workshop, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and manage daily workshop loading, allocating jobs to technicians based on skill and capacity
Monitor job progress and ensure vehicles are completed on time and to standard
Carry out technical work yourself where required — this is a hands-on role as well as a management one
Liaise with the sales team on vehicle preparation timescales and priorities
Maintain quality control across all work leaving the workshop
Order parts and manage parts stock efficiently
Ensure health & safety compliance and workshop standards are upheld at all times
Support and mentor technicians, helping to develop team performance
Keep accurate records including job cards, technician hours, and vehicle status

What We're Looking For

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
Proven experience in a workshop controller, foreman, or senior technician role
Strong technical background with the ability and willingness to work hands-on
Excellent organisational and planning skills — able to manage multiple priorities
Good communication skills and a natural ability to lead a team
Experience with workshop loading and job management systems
Full UK driving licence
Composed under pressure, with a focus on quality and efficiency
