Full job description

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Carers Energy Support Advisor to join our Carers Energy Wellbeing Project in a part time capacity (14.5 hours per week).

In this rewarding role, you will provide specialist energy advice and practical support to unpaid carers across Coventry, helping them reduce energy costs, improve home warmth and safety, and access wider support services.

You will work directly with carers through one-to-one support, home visits, workshops and community outreach activities, helping some of the most vulnerable households navigate energy challenges and fuel poverty.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

As our Carers Energy Support Advisor, you will:

Provide tailored energy advice on bills, tariffs, meters, heating systems, energy efficiency and energy-saving measures.
Support carers to access financial assistance, social tariffs, the Warm Home Discount and other energy-related support schemes.
Manage a caseload of carers experiencing energy hardship, prioritising those at risk of fuel poverty.
Conduct home visits and deliver practical support to improve household energy efficiency and wellbeing.
Deliver workshops, group sessions and outreach activities in community settings and online.
Act as a Carers Energy Wellbeing Champion, supporting colleagues to identify and refer carers who may benefit from the service.
Develop accessible information resources and guidance materials for carers.
Distribute energy-saving and winter-warmth items to eligible households.
Build strong partnerships with local authorities, health services and voluntary sector organisations.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities.
Ensure all work is carried out in line with safeguarding, lone working and health and safety procedures.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting people and making a positive impact in their community.

Your Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Experience of supporting others in the community.
Understanding of the challenges faced by unpaid carers and families with caring responsibilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to engage with a wide range of people.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
City & Guilds Level 3 Energy Awareness qualification (or willingness to undertake the qualification).

Desirable Requirements

Knowledge of domestic energy use, billing, tariffs, energy efficiency measures and fuel poverty.
Experience delivering energy advice or similar advice-based services.
Experience working with vulnerable adults or households experiencing hardship.
Experience conducting home visits and community outreach.
Experience delivering workshops, training or group activities.
Knowledge of safeguarding principles and energy safety issues, including carbon monoxide awareness.

Additional Information

This role requires travel across Coventry and the wider organisational area as required. A UK driving licence and your own car (insured for business use) is required.

This is currently a fixed term role until 31/03/2028.
