Senior Project Engineer - Water Industry
Lead pressure management and modelling excellence
Purpose and scope of the role:
Tetra Tech’s Water Consultancy is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to provide technical leadership to a team of clean water pressure management engineers and data analysts. You will own technical delivery for pressure management schemes, direct day‑to‑day workload planning, set quality and H&S standards, and liaise with clients and delivery partners. Typical activity includes hydraulic modelling, scheme optioneering, data analysis, line management and commercial oversight across AMP‑level programmes and capital delivery projects.
Your impact in this position:
In the short term you will ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery of pressure management outputs and data‑driven recommendations. Over the medium term you will embed improved processes, uplift team capability and influence network performance through targeted interventions. In the longer term you will shape regional delivery strategy, develop future leaders and contribute to business growth and contract development.
Core capabilities:
- Leadership and people development - Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage multidisciplinary teams, set priorities, drive performance and mentor technical staff.

Hydraulics, modelling and data analytics - Significant experience in clean water network hydraulics, steady‑state and transient modelling, pressure management techniques and interpreting large datasets.

Project and commercial management - Strong track record of delivering projects to time and budget, managing risk, forecasting commercial performance and supporting bids and proposals.

Stakeholder and client engagement - Skilled at building collaborative client relationships, influencing at senior levels and translating technical outcomes into actionable business decisions.

Health, safety and continuous improvement - Demonstrable commitment to H&S, quality assurance and implementing continual improvement to raise efficiency and delivery standards.
Skills, qualifications and experience:
Expected: degree in engineering or related discipline; substantial experience in clean water networks; chartered or working towards chartership. Desirable: postgraduate qualification, formal management training and proven experience in AMP programme delivery.
Work patterns & locations:
