Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical expertise, electrical knowledge, and hands-on experience with specialised tools and machinery. Duties
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and related equipment such as excavators, forklifts, and lorries
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Fabricate and modify parts as needed using welding, soldering, and assembly techniques
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to perform repairs efficiently
- Read and interpret technical schematics to ensure precise repairs and installations
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify vehicle components
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts used
- Assist with equipment installation, assembly, and troubleshooting in various operational settings
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies
Requirements
- Proven experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance with a strong mechanical background
- Electrical experience relevant to vehicle systems is highly desirable
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical diagrams
- Skilled in welding, soldering, fabrication, and assembly processes
- Familiarity with heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and specialised diagnostic equipment safely
- Knowledge of equipment repair procedures including hydraulic systems and electrical components
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in demanding environments
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in mechanical or electrical trades are advantageous
