Greenville IDC Limited is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Purchasing Manager to take responsibility for the company's purchasing and procurement activities.
This is an important role within the business, with responsibility for ensuring that materials, components, products and services are purchased at the right quality, price and time to support production and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will manage supplier relationships, negotiate commercial terms, monitor purchasing performance and work closely with production, engineering, stores, finance and senior management.
We are looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware and confident negotiating with suppliers, while also having the ability to develop effective long-term supplier relationships.
THE ROLE
As Purchasing Manager, you will take ownership of the company's purchasing function and ensure that procurement activities support the operational and commercial objectives of Greenville IDC Limited.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Procurement
- Manage the day-to-day purchasing function.
- Purchase materials, components, equipment, consumables and services in line with business requirements.
- Review purchase requisitions and raise purchase orders.
- Ensure materials are available to meet production and customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor outstanding purchase orders and supplier delivery dates.
- Identify and resolve purchasing and supply issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
- Ensure purchasing procedures are followed consistently.
Supplier Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Identify, evaluate and approve new suppliers where appropriate.
- Monitor supplier performance, quality, pricing and delivery.
- Conduct regular supplier reviews.
- Address supplier performance issues and agree corrective actions.
- Develop alternative sources of supply to reduce dependency and supply-chain risk.
- Maintain an approved supplier list.
Commercial Negotiation
- Negotiate competitive pricing and commercial terms.
- Review supplier quotations and compare alternatives.
- Negotiate payment terms, lead times, minimum order quantities and delivery arrangements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs without compromising quality or service.
- Monitor market pricing and material cost movements.
- Support management with purchasing and cost analysis.
Stock & Inventory
- Work closely with stores and production to maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Help minimise excess, obsolete and slow-moving stock.
- Monitor material requirements and purchasing demand.
- Support stock forecasting and planning.
- Identify potential shortages and take proactive action.
- Assist with inventory optimisation and working-capital management.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for an experienced purchasing or procurement professional who can take ownership of the purchasing function and deliver measurable commercial value to the business.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Purchasing Manager, Procurement Manager, Senior Buyer or similar position.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, construction or industrial environment.
- Strong supplier negotiation skills.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of purchasing costs.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience managing supplier performance.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and purchasing/ERP systems.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- A proactive approach to identifying cost savings and improving processes.
Experience using Sage 200 or a similar ERP/business management system would be advantageous.

SALARY & BENEFITS
