At Gullion Bakery, we started with a simple idea — produce genuinely high-quality breads and baked goods that people actually remember.
Founded by father-and-son team Thomas & Steve, Gullion Bakery has grown steadily over the last 18 months from a small local operation into a thriving artisan bakery supplying both our own stores and an expanding wholesale customer base across Newry and the surrounding areas.
As demand continues to grow and with the opening of our newest store, we’re now looking for a passionate and reliable Baker to join the team during an exciting stage of expansion.
This is more than just a bakery job. We’re looking for somebody who genuinely cares about quality, takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a team, and wants to grow with a business that’s building something long-term.
For the right candidate, this role has the potential to progress into a leadership or management position as the business continues to expand.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Producing high-quality breads, pastries, and baked goods to Gullion Bakery standards
- Dough mixing, shaping, proving, baking, and general production work
- Assisting with daily preparation and bakery organisation
- Maintaining consistency, quality control, and cleanliness standards
- Working efficiently as part of a close-knit bakery team
- Supporting production for both retail stores and wholesale customers
- Helping maintain a positive and professional working environment
- Assisting with training or leadership responsibilities where appropriate
What We’re Looking For
- Previous bakery experience is essential
- Experience working with doughs, breads, and bakery production
- Laminating experience would be highly beneficial, though not essential
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality products
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic
- Management or supervisory experience would be highly desirable
- Emotional & situational awareness, also the ability to work well with others, are a major plus
Hours & Pay
- Expected working hours: [Monday - Wednesday 4:00am-1:00pm - Thursday & Friday 10:00am/11:00am-7:00pm/8:00pm
- Starting pay: £12.71 – £14.00 per hour
- Higher rate negotiable depending on experience and suitability
