We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Technical Author to create clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for Thompson. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and editing technical manuals, reports, and specifications, ensuring they are comprehensive and adhere to regulatory and industry standards. The ideal candidate has a solid technical background, preferably in aerospace or a related field, and exceptional writing and editing skills. This is a fixed term contract for 12-18 months.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including software and
- systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation
- Produce implementation guides and end-user guides for capabilities
- Create and maintain the information architecture via traceability matrix
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical staff to collect and interpret technical information
- Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
- Adhere to established style guidelines and standards

Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field
- Proven experience as a technical author, preferably in the aerospace industry
- Experience working with engineering teams
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with the use of style guides
- Technical expertise in the aerospace industry, including a strong understanding of engineering principles, aircraft systems, and aviation regulations.
- Strong written communication skills to convey complex technical information in a clear, concise, and easily understandable manner
- Proficiency in technical writing tools and software, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and CAD software
- Detail-oriented mindset to ensure accuracy and consistency in technical documentation, including manuals, reports, and procedure guides.
- Research skills to gather and interpret technical data from a variety of sources, including engineers, manufacturers, and regulatory authorities.
- Ability to work in a team environment, liaising with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to produce comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date documentation.
- Problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to document creation and revision
