Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary expertise within a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the kitchen operations, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene. Prior experience in a hospitality or restaurant setting is desirable, along with a passion for cooking and team collaboration. This position provides valuable hands-on experience and the chance to progress within the culinary industry.

Duties

Assist in preparing a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards
Support senior chefs in food production and presentation, ensuring consistency and excellence
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
Supervise junior team members when required, providing guidance on food preparation and safety procedures
Contribute to the efficient running of the kitchen by managing multiple tasks during busy service periods
Ensure all ingredients are stored correctly and stock levels are maintained appropriately
Follow health and safety protocols diligently, including hygiene standards and safe handling of kitchen equipment
Participate in menu planning and development alongside the culinary team when needed

Experience

Previous experience in a professional kitchen, restaurant, or hospitality environment is advantageous
Demonstrated skills in food preparation, cooking, and food safety practices
Supervising experience or team management skills are desirable but not essential
Knowledge of culinary techniques, food production processes, and kitchen equipment operation
Familiarity with hospitality standards, including serving guests and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
A genuine passion for culinary arts and continuous learning within the hospitality sector
