Food & Beverage Manager, Bangor Golf Club

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and service-driven Food & Beverage professional to lead and enhance Clubhouse experience at Bangor Golf Club. The Club is seeking a visible, member-focused leader who understands the importance of food and beverage within a members’ club environment.

The successful candidate will be an approachable and engaging hospitality professional who takes pride in building relationships with members and guests, actively listens to feedback, and creates a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere within the clubhouse. This individual will bring a collaborative leadership style, working closely with both front- and back-of-house teams to deliver consistently high standards of service, professionalism, and hospitality.

Bangor Golf Club is looking for a Food & Beverage Manager who can bring energy, consistency, and attention to detail to the operation, ensuring that the food and beverage offering complements the overall member experience. The role requires a balance of operational discipline and creativity, delivering quality, approachable menus alongside reliable and efficient service. Success will be measured through member engagement, enhanced satisfaction, and a vibrant environment that encourages regular use by members and their guests.

BANGOR GOLF CLUB

Bangor Golf Club is a highly regarded private members’ golf club located in Bangor. The Club prides itself on its rich heritage, strong community membership, and commitment to providing exceptional golfing and social experience.

At the heart of the Club is the golf course, designed by James Braid who won the Open Championship 5 times. Honorary member, Rory McIlroy, described the course as “one of the finest parkland courses in Ireland”. The clubhouse serves as the social hub, offering relaxed yet high-quality dining and hospitality experiences for members, guests, and visitors. Members regularly enjoy informal dining, post-round refreshments, and a calendar of social events that contribute to a vibrant and welcoming club culture.

Food and beverage plays a key role in supporting the overall member experience, with a focus on consistency, quality, and service that reflects the standards of the Club. The operation includes daily service, member events, and occasional functions, all delivered within a friendly and professional environment.

MEMBER-LED APPROACH COMPLEMENTED BY EXTERNAL EVENTS

Bangor Golf Club operates with a clear member-first philosophy, where food and beverage is designed primarily to enhance the overall member experience. Alongside this, the Club carefully utilises external functions and events as a complementary part of the business.

External events including private celebrations, functions, and selected corporate bookings—are managed in a way that supports, rather than detracts from, the member experience. These activities provide valuable additional income that contributes directly to maintaining and improving the quality, consistency, and value of the food and beverage offering available to members.

The Food & Beverage Manager will play a key role in achieving this balance, ensuring that external events are well-organised, appropriately scheduled, and delivered to a high standard without compromising day-to-day member service. This requires strong planning, clear communication, and an understanding of when to prioritise member access and experience.

Success in this area will be reflected in the Club’s ability to generate sustainable additional revenue while preserving the welcoming, member-focused environment that defines Bangor Golf Club.

FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER – POSITION OVERVIEW

The Food & Beverage Manager at Bangor Golf Club is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management, and performance of the Club’s food and beverage operation, whilst also assisting in marketing the Club to increase social membership and external function bookings. Reporting to the General Manager, this individual oversees all clubhouse dining and bar services and works closely with the caterer and front-of-house team to ensure a seamless and high-quality experience.

This role is hands-on and visible, requiring a strong presence in the clubhouse and regular interaction with members. The Food & Beverage Manager will lead by example, setting clear service standards, supporting team development, and ensuring consistency across all aspects of the operation.

Key responsibilities include staff management, service delivery, scheduling, stock control, purchasing, event coordination, maintaining financial controls, and a focus on marketing and growth. The role also involves working collaboratively with the General Manager and relevant committees to align the food and beverage offering with member expectations and the Club’s overall objectives.

Success in this role will be reflected in improved member satisfaction, increased usage of clubhouse facilities, and a well-organised, motivated, and service-focused team.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 3-year proven experience in food and beverage operations within hospitality venue, Member’s club or similar service orientated environment
Strong understanding of both front-of-house service and back-of-house coordination
Professional, self-motivated, and hands-on leader with high standards
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with members and staff
Strong organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail
Ability to perform effectively in a busy, service-driven environment
A passion for delivering exceptional service and enhancing the member experience
Experience in staff training, development, and team leadership
Financial awareness, including cost control, stock management, and budgeting
An appreciation of golf club culture and the expectations of a private members’ environment is highly desirable
Proven track record in digital marketing, event promotion, and driving revenue growth
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, aligned with peak Club hours

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Relevant hospitality or management qualification preferred
Demonstrable experience in a similar role will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
