Key Purpose of Job:
Working with the Senior Transformation Lead - Elective, this is a key role in the development and delivery of the GESH Outpatient improvement programme.
The post holder will support a number of projects across the trust, providing leadership and guidance across their allocated programme of work.
They will provide managerial leadership to the programme of work successfully engaging with key stakeholders, defining a clear strategic direction, setting out plans for project delivery, coordinating redesign and improvement initiatives and supporting implementation.
This will include managing projects from inception to completion and developing medium to long term strategies that impact across the Trust and the wider sector. Success in the role will rely on excellent teamwork with key stakeholders (clinical and non-clinical) within the trust and across partner organisations.
The post-holder will be expected to work autonomously ensuring appropriate prioritisation of workload to ensure completion of projects within agreed timescales.
Key Responsibilities:
- To lead on the development and delivery of key workstreams across elective pathways.
- To work in partnership with other key stakeholders to form and sustain an effective and collaborative programme of work, developing strong working relationships with colleagues.
- To develop a high-level of knowledge and awareness of national policy and best practice in relation to key programmes of work.
- To contribute to the organisation’s annual business planning where appropriate.
- To lead the delivery of designated programmes including developing robust programme/project plans, allocating tasks as appropriate, identifying risks, issues, and dependencies, considering best practice and current options and ultimately making decisions in the best interest of the programme/project.
- To develop and monitor financial and non-financial benefits for designated projects
- To analyse highly complex data and use this to inform improvement actions
- Use robust problem-solving skills to find and understand root cause of problems and opportunities for improvement.
- To be responsible for a high standard of work supporting the delivery of projects on time, to quality standards and in a cost-effective manner.
- Maintain the project initiation document and associated plans with regular reporting and team meetings to monitor progress and resources.
- To pro-actively manage stakeholders, responding to and resolving conflict between different stakeholders when this arises through facilitation or other appropriate mechanisms.
- Ensure public and patient involvement through the programme life cycle, building a productive working relationship with the organisation’s patient and public representatives.
- To be responsible for devising and implementing methods for highly complex information collection, analysis and presentation that meet the specification of the end user/client. This will include information gathering where data is difficult to obtain and interpret.
- To take into account the impact of any change the projects will have on the business and oversee handover of any products to ensure full ownership, buy-in and sustainability within the organisation. Advocate the projects at senior and executive levels and ensure active engagement and sponsorship.
- To ensure a good communication strategy is in place for key work programmes
- To build close working relationships with the CCG’s and other external partners
- To ensure the flexibility of the programme and projects if required to meet conflicting/changing requirements.
- To contribute to governance and performance requirements.
- To plan and organise numerous events/meetings, ensuring communication tools are used to their maximum value for circulating the minutes, agenda and presentations in a timely manner.

Key Working Relationships
- The post holder will need to work with senior clinical and managerial colleagues and stakeholders across the health community, and will often need to engage with them over sensitive, complex, contentious and confidential issues as these arise
- Operate effectively in a flexible and demanding environment and proactively engage with NHS staff, and those with vested interests working on a variety of topics.
- The post holder will need to develop close working relationships with information, finance, quality, public and patient engagement and other healthcare professionals across the health and social care community.
- Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive and contentious information, presenting information, to a wide range of stakeholders in a formal setting.
- Having the ability to deal with potentially contentious situations and behaviours, applying a high level of emotional intelligence and maintaining personal resilience.
- Nurture key relationships and maintain networks internally and externally
- Close liaison with the Communications and Patient Engagement team on public relations and marketing activities
- Matrix working across all other directorates to address inter-dependencies and ensure alignment of mutual objectives.
- Contribute to the positive culture for Quality, Cost and Service Improvement, celebrating excellence and innovation whilst encouraging the joint learning and nurturing of everyone in the team and the wider organisation
Performance Indicators and Outputs:
- Production of Programme and Project Documentation.
- Production of other key reporting and monitoring documentation including service specifications.
- Design and implementation of Evaluation Plans to review the impact, success, and sustainability of programme initiatives.
- Responsible for ensuring that strategic plans reflect the priorities of the organisation, are focussed on outcomes and based on evidence and quality analysis of management information
- Responsible for developing and maintaining effective networks across South West London and Surrey, as well as wider national networks
Resources:
- Contribute to the management of the Team budget, and take responsibility for looking for opportunities to deliver value for money and greater efficiency in the use of these budgets
- Act in a way that is compliant with standing orders and standing financial instructions in the discharge of this responsibility
