About Us
Empower Youth are a specialist holiday club and wraparound care provider. Since 2021, we have grown from one school to now 6 schools across 3 boroughs. We run HAF programmes at Elmhurst Primary School, Al-Noor Primary School, SS Peter and Paul's Primary School, Uphall Primary School and Leytonstone School, along with various secondary school programmes. This is in addition to our wraparound services which we run from Elmhurst School, Vicarage Primary School and Al-Noor Primary.
Over the years we have developed a repute with parents, and we now have 175 Google reviews which is the highest for any youth provider across the boroughs we serve. Job Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Teaching Assistants. This advert is on the back of various requests from locals asking for voluntary positions with our organisation to develop some experience with a reputable firm. The candidate will get hands-on experience of delivering and supporting with various activities to young children in 3 Ofsted rated "Outstanding" schools alongside our mainstream staff. This role will provide the person with relevant training alongside the teaching experience and a reputable reference for future work positions. And any candidates demonstrating really good work ethic and rapport with the children will be offered paid employment with our organisation.
Key Responsibilities
I. Teaching Assistants:
- Activity Supervision: Assist in supervising children during various activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
- Lunch and Break Supervision: Oversee children during snack times, promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
- Support Staff: Assist Class Leads and other staff members with the preparation and execution of activities.
- Child Welfare: Monitor the well-being of children, providing support and guidance as needed.
- Administrative Duties: Help with registration, attendance tracking, and other administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: Previous experience working with children in a similar setting is preferred. But not essential
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact positively with children, parents, and staff.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take direction when needed.
- Organisation: Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and execute activities effectively.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and needs throughout the programme
- Passion: A genuine interest in supporting the well-being and development of children and young people.
Requirements
- Successful candidates will be subject to a background check and must have an enhanced DBS check
- Availability during weekdays between 3-5pm within Ilford.
- Relevant certifications are desirable (e.g., first aid, safeguarding).
Pay: £0.01 per hour
