Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Co-ordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities within a care home environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents, particularly those requiring specialised dementia and Alzheimer's care. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your skills in senior care and caregiving, contributing positively to residents' wellbeing and social engagement.
Duties
- Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and needs, including those with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Develop personalised activity programmes that promote mental stimulation, physical activity, and social interaction
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities are suitable for individual residents’ health conditions and abilities
- Encourage participation from all residents, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities, making adjustments as necessary to maximise engagement
- Maintain accurate records of residents’ participation and feedback for continuous improvement
- Assist in organising special events or outings that enhance residents’ quality of life
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to ensure activities meet expectations and needs
Skills
- Experience working within assisted living or nursing home settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of senior care, dementia care, and Alzheimer’s care principles
- Strong communication skills to engage with residents compassionately and effectively
- Proven caregiving skills with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults
- Ability to develop creative activity programmes suited to diverse needs and abilities
- Organised with excellent planning skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously
- Empathetic nature with patience and understanding when working with individuals experiencing cognitive decline or special needs

Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
