Overview
Avenwell Care Services is preparing to launch a new domiciliary care service in North Devon.
We are looking for an experienced Consultant Registered Manager / CQC Consultant to support us through the CQC registration process and provide genuine early-stage care governance.
This is a flexible consultancy role and would suit an experienced Registered Manager, former Registered Manager, domiciliary care manager, or care compliance consultant who has strong knowledge of CQC requirements and domiciliary care operations.
The founder will lead on business operations, recruitment, finance, systems and growth. We are looking for a care-sector professional to guide the regulated care side of the business, including CQC readiness, safeguarding, care planning, risk assessments, medication governance and quality assurance.
This is not a full-time employed role at this stage. We are open to hourly, part-time, monthly retainer or project-based arrangements depending on experience and level of involvement.
Key responsibilities
- Support the CQC registration process for a new domiciliary care provider
- Assist with Statement of Purpose and registration documentation
- Review and advise on care policies and procedures
- Help prepare for CQC interview and registration assessment
- Advise on safe recruitment, staff onboarding and training requirements
- Set up care planning and risk assessment processes
- Support safeguarding, medication governance and incident reporting procedures
- Advise on quality assurance, audits and compliance monitoring
- Provide early-stage Registered Manager guidance and operational oversight
- Help ensure the service is safe, compliant and ready to deliver regulated care
Requirements
- Previous experience as a CQC Registered Manager
- Domiciliary care / homecare experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of CQC regulations and care governance
- Safeguarding knowledge
- Medication governance understanding
- Experience with care plans, risk assessments and audits
- Ability to support a new provider through CQC registration
- Comfortable working with a startup business
- Able to provide practical guidance, not just template documents
- Based in the UK, with ability to support a North Devon service
Desirable
- Experience helping new domiciliary care providers register with CQC
- Experience preparing for CQC interviews or inspections
- Knowledge of care software such as Birdie, PASS, CarePlanner or similar
- Knowledge of private-pay domiciliary care
- Availability to provide ongoing monthly consultancy support after registration
Working arrangement
This is a flexible consultancy role.
