Job summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Press Toolmaker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacture, maintenance, and repair of press tools, ensuring high-quality production standards and minimal downtime.
Ideal candidates will be recent apprentices or machinists looking to transition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacture, assemble, and maintain press tools, jigs, and fixtures
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to ensure tooling efficiency
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Use manual and CNC machinery such as milling machines, lathes, and grinders
- Ensure all tooling meets quality and safety standards
- Work closely with production teams to support continuous improvement
- Carry out preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Press Toolmaker or similar role
- Strong knowledge of press tooling, stamping, and forming processes
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Skilled in machining, fitting, and assembly
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Apprentice trained / recognised engineering qualification
- Experience with CNC programming or operation
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
