About the Role

Looking to start your career in engineering and renewable energy?

Ebtech Energy Systems Ltd is looking for a motivated Assistant Project Design Engineer to join our growing team in South Cave, East Yorkshire.

This role is ideal for someone with an interest in mechanical building services, renewable energy, and low-carbon heating systems. You’ll support the design and delivery of commercial and industrial energy projects, working alongside experienced engineers, project managers, procurement, and site teams.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through to installation, commissioning, and handover, on real-world decarbonisation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Support the design of mechanical building services and renewable energy systems.
Help produce and update technical drawings, schematics, and layouts.
Assist in preparing equipment schedules, specifications, and technical submissions.
Work with engineers and project managers to develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
Learn and support tasks such as heat loss calculations, pipe sizing, pump selection, and plantroom layouts.
Review supplier quotations and technical datasheets.
Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Assist with the development of O&M manuals, as-built drawings, and handover packs.
Attend site visits and surveys where required.
Maintain accurate project documentation and design records.

Requirements (Preferred)

Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Service Construction or Similar (preferred)
Strong interest in renewable energy and low-carbon technologies
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
Good IT skills (Microsoft Office essential)
Strong attention to detail and organisation
Good communication skills and team mindset
Full UK driving licence. (preferred)

Desirable (Not Essential)

Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software
Knowledge of HVAC systems, plantrooms, or commercial heating
Understanding of heat pumps or district heating systems
Familiarity with CIBSE / BSRIA / Building Regulations
Experience in a construction or engineering environment
