Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Technician to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in electrical systems, system design, and technical drawing interpretation. This role involves supporting product development, system maintenance, and optimisation through advanced engineering practices. The successful applicant will have experience with CAD software, programmable logic controllers, and system troubleshooting, contributing to innovative solutions within our organisation.

Responsibilities

Develop and review electrical schematics and system diagrams using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and SolidWorks.
Design and implement electrical systems for various projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.
Programme and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) using languages such as C, C++, Python, and MATLAB.
Conduct root cause analysis on electrical faults and system failures to determine underlying issues.
Support fabrication processes by providing technical guidance on electrical components and wiring layouts.
Perform system debugging and maintenance to ensure optimal operation of electrical equipment.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers on integration of electrical systems into mechanical designs using GD&T principles.
Assist in product development activities by creating detailed system models and simulations.
Utilise CAD software for detailed design work, ensuring accuracy in drawings and schematics.
Participate in systems engineering activities including testing, validation, and optimisation of electrical systems.

Skills

Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and SolidWorks for design documentation.
Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles including schematics interpretation and circuit design.
Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC) programming and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of programming languages including C, C++, Python, MATLAB for automation and control applications.
Familiarity with system design methodologies within systems engineering frameworks.
Mechanical knowledge relevant to fabrication processes and assembly procedures.
Ability to perform root cause analysis and debugging of complex electrical issues.
Understanding of GD&T standards for precise mechanical-electrical integration.
Experience with maintenance routines for electrical systems to ensure reliability and safety.
Excellent analytical skills combined with a solid foundation in mathematics relevant to engineering tasks.
