We support the movement and storage of soft commodities, metals, and general cargo worldwide, managing the entire supply chain — from origin and shipping through to customs, bonded warehousing and final distribution.
As our UK business continues to grow, we are now looking to strengthen and expand our freight forwarding capability, creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to make a real impact.
The opportunity
We are recruiting an Import Co-ordinator with strong freight forwarding experience to join our team and play a key role in developing and growing our forwarding function in the UK.
This is more than a traditional operations role — we’re looking for someone who can:
- Bring end-to-end freight forwarding expertise
- Help build and shape our forwarding offering
- Contribute to the commercial development of the service, including customer engagement and identifying opportunities to grow business
You will be responsible for managing shipments and logistics processes from start to finish, while also supporting the wider team in delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service.
Key responsibilities
Operational & Freight Forwarding
- Manage inbound shipments (primarily sea freight, with some airfreight)
- Coordinate export shipments via sea freight
- Handle shipments end-to-end, from booking through to final delivery
- Open and manage jobs within the internal Cargowise system
- Process customs entries and supporting documentation (including Traces and Port Health)
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively manage delays/issues
- Coordinate transport and ensure delivery requirements are met, including bonded cargo
- Complete job costings and invoicing
- Maintain accurate system updates, reporting, and file sign-off
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key point of contact for customers, providing a responsive and professional service
- Liaise with shipping lines, hauliers, agents, and internal teams
- Build strong, long-term relationships with customers and supply chain partners
Commercial & Development Focus
- Support the growth of the freight forwarding function within the UK business
- Identify opportunities to offer additional services to existing customers
- Contribute to improving processes, efficiencies, and service offering
- Engage with customers in a commercially proactive way, helping to promote and develop forwarding services
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in freight forwarding (essential) — ideally managing shipments end-to-end
- Strong understanding of import/export processes within a shipping or logistics environment
- Experience or interest in building or developing a forwarding or logistics function
- Commercial awareness, with the confidence to engage customers and support business growth
- Working knowledge of Cargowise (preferred)
- Proficient IT skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A proactive, positive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Contract length: 9-12 months
Pay: Up to £35,000.00 per year
