Job Description
Thermo Fisher Scientific recently announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell its microbiology business to Astorg, a leading pan-European private equity firm with deep expertise in healthcare, focused on a select set of subsectors, including pharmaceutical services and technology, medtech and related services, life science tools and diagnostics.
This decision follows a thoughtful evaluation as part of Thermo Fisher’s ongoing business strategy to actively manage and strengthen our portfolio.
We expect the transaction will be completed in the second half of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and applicable regulatory approvals. Until the transaction is complete, Thermo Fisher will continue to operate the business.
If you join the microbiology business prior to the close of the transaction, your employment is expected to transition to Astorg.

DESCRIPTION:
Lead global, cross functional program initiatives with diverse internal teams ranging from Commercial, Operations, Planning, PMO to meet project objectives and metrics. Guide innovative thinking and foster collaboration across geographies and functions to successfully deliver complex projects ranging from business transformations, manufacturing footprint and process automation, customer master data, SKU simplification and system implementations to process improvements and regulatory compliance initiatives. Build and support high-performing project teams while establishing an environment of excellence aligned with Thermo Fisher's values. Partner with senior leadership to define project scope, goals, and success metrics while ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints. Act as the primary point of contact for project status, proactively identifying and addressing risks through effective strategies and clear communication to all stakeholders. You will plan, direct, supervise and control the execution of all business, technical, fiscal and administrative functions of the project. Based on thorough analyses, you will facilitate the evaluation and prioritization of projects and enable the leadership team to make strategic decisions. You’ll prepare and deliver executive-level presentations for internal as well as external meetings. This role can be based anywhere in Europe.
Key Responsibilities:

Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensure resource availability and allocation

Develop a detailed project plan to track progress and action logs

Organize and lead project meetings and compile project status report to stakeholders and project team to drive deliverables to schedule and develop resolutions to mitigation risks/issues.

Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs

Lead project execution to ensure standard Project Management best practices are employed
-
Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
-
Report and escalate to management as needed

Perform risk management to minimize project risks

Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and prepare reports for leadership

Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience managing complex, global programs and project initiatives

Preferred Fields of Study: business, engineering, science or related field

Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2, Agile) highly desirable
-
Change Management certification (e.g., Prosci) a plus
-
Lean/Six Sigma certification beneficial

Experience leading cross- functional teams in a matrix organization

Demonstrated success implementing large- scale business transformations, system integrations, or process improvements

Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices

Experience in finance operations, customer service, procurement or related business functions

Strong leadership abilities with demonstrated success building and developing teams

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to engage at all levels

Strong analytical and problem- solving capabilities

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high- priority projects simultaneously

Experience with project management tools and systems

Change management and stakeholder engagement expertise

Adaptable to changing project demands and varied environments

Strong planning, organizational and time management skills

Proficiency in English required; additional languages beneficial

Ability to travel up to 25% as needed
