Full job description

We are looking for 2 candidates (each 22.5 hours), who will support the existing Lead Midwife caring for those with Mental health concerns.

You will be based at either Basingstoke or Winchester Hospitals and work 3 days per week.

You must be a registered midwife with the NMC with current UK experience.

To lead and supervise the day to day assessment of pregnant and postnatal women in relation to their mental health needs, implementing plans of care and evaluating their effectiveness.
To work closely with the Head of Midwifery, Antenatal, Postnatal and Community Clinical Matrons, Named Midwife Safeguarding Children and Obstetricians; being a source of information and guidance regarding policy and protocols relating to Perinatal Mental Health and the impact on women and their families Liaise with Perinatal Mental Health Services, Community Mental Health Services and partner agencies to ensure that women with severe mental illness are appropriately managed in the perinatal period
Support and develop midwifery colleagues in implementing plans of care.
Promote excellent professional practice which promotes the role of the perinatal mental health midwives within maternity services and with associated partner agencies.
Be responsible for maintaining and disseminating local and national guidance relating to maternal mental health in the perinatal period

Act as a source of expert specialised knowledge and clinical expertise in relation to mental health practice.
To provide clinical leadership and support to health professionals in the event of a mental health crisis.
Participate in hospital on-calls – minimum 6 per year.
