The Engineering Degree Apprentice will support the delivery of railway systems engineering projects while undertaking a structured degree apprenticeship programme. The role provides hands-on experience across a range of technical and operational activities, enabling the apprentice to develop core engineering competencies within a professional environment.
This role is designed to develop future engineering talent by combining practical experience with formal education, preparing the individual for a career in railway systems engineering.

Participate in a variety of projects, assisting in ensuring they are completed on time and within budget

Gain a deep understanding of the technical and operational aspects crucial to railway systems engineering.

Undertake formal University training, coursework and exams throughout the duration of the apprenticeship

Continued engagement and progress within apprenticeship programme.
- Supporting senior colleagues in tasks such as hazard identification and mitigation, fault analysis, technical investigation, auditing, design evaluation, structures assessment work, and maintenance optimisation.

Preparing and presenting proposals for new work opportunities

Qualified at level 2 (i.e., a level 4-9 in GCSE or equivalent) in English and Maths, and;

At least grade B in Maths at A level (or equivalent), plus two other B grades at A level (or equivalent). These must not be in Citizenship Skills, Critical Thinking or General Studies, or;

Relevant engineering BTEC qualification, preceding level apprenticeship (level 3) or equivalent demonstrable work experience in the occupational area.

Relevant extra-curricular or industry experience will be considered but is not required.
