Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kennel Manager to oversee the daily operations of our animal rescue. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising staff, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare, and maintaining excellent customer service. The Kennel Manager will play a vital role in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for both animals and clients. This role offers an established and effective communicator the opportunity to work together with the Sanctuary Manager to lead our team through a period of change and shape the future of our Sanctuary.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kennel operations, including feeding, cleaning, and general care of animals
- Supervise and train kennel staff to ensure high standards of animal welfare and customer service
- Manage scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage at all times
- Maintain accurate records of animal health, vaccinations, and treatments
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the sanctuary
- Handle client enquiries, bookings, and provide exceptional customer service
- Monitor inventory levels of supplies such as food, cleaning products, and medical supplies
- Assist with behavioural assessments and organise special care or training as needed
- Coordinate with veterinary professionals for health checks or emergencies
- Ensure the kennel environment remains clean, safe, and organised at all times
Skills
- Proven background in animal care is essential
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate staff effectively
- Excellent customer service skills to engage with clients professionally and compassionately
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting of animals or supplies
- Organised with excellent time management skills to prioritise tasks efficiently
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with team members, clients, and veterinary professionals
- Compassionate attitude towards animals with a keen eye for detail regarding their wellbeing
