Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our organisation, Shropshire Cat Rescue, as a Charity Trustee. This voluntary position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our cause, support community development and maximise your skills to support the chair and the rest of the board.
Trustees play a vital role in shaping the strategy, ensuring good governance, and having hands - on exposure to one or more areas of the charity. We are specifically looking for candidates with strong fundraising experience, particularly legacies. However experience in grants, funding, capital appeals and individual giving would also be welcomed.
This role is suitable for those wanting to make a positive difference and who willing to dedicate their time and expertise voluntarily. Please note Trustees do not receive a salary or benefits for their work.
Responsibilities
- Attend regular trustee meetings ( one a month) and participate in projects as required.
- Take ownership to support a particular business area of the charity and use skills and experience to develop this area, overseeing staff and volunteers as needed.
- Develop strong relationships with beneficiaries, partners, donors, and the wider community and act as an ambassador for the charity.
- Oversee the charities activities as a board member in line with best practise from the Charity's Commission.
- Be compliant with legal obligations, including charity law, data protection regulations, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Previous or current experience in Legacies, Fundraising, Grant applications, Individual giving or capital appeals is required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences and work well cross-functionally in a wider team
- Able to be "hands on" when needed and utilise skills effectively.
- Some exposure to working within the charity sector is desirable.
- Able to work collaboratively within a team of trustees, volunteers and staff members
- A commitment to the Charity's mission and values with a proactive approach to governance.
