Role Summary

The Junior Buyer will support the Purchasing team in delivering a responsive and efficient procurement service, ensuring materials and services are sourced in line with business requirements. The role is responsible for maintaining stock availability, supporting supplier performance, and contributing to the achievement of cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, the Junior Buyer will help ensure the smooth flow of materials through the business while developing their procurement knowledge and commercial awareness.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

- Raise and manage purchase orders in a timely manner with approved suppliers.
- Monitor supplier delivery performance and proactively expedite orders to ensure materials are available to meet production and customer requirements.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers to support service, quality, and cost objectives.
- Maintain accurate procurement, supplier, and inventory data within the ERP system.
- Assist in monitoring stock levels and support inventory management activities to minimise shortages and excess stock.
- Liaise with Production, Planning, Operations, Sales, and other departments to resolve supply-related issues and support business objectives.
- Support the identification and communication of supply chain risks, escalating concerns and assisting with mitigation plans.
- Contribute to supplier performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, procedures, and sustainability commitments.
- Support the Purchasing team with reporting, analysis, and administrative tasks as required.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required within the scope of the role.
You need

- Previous experience within a purchasing, procurement, supply chain, planning, or administrative role is desirable.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems is advantageous, or a willingness to learn.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
