The quality and breadth of work that we carry out is extremely wide. Whilst we work in specialist sectors, the fundamentals of property law still of course apply. This means we deal with significant volumes of development work (for example in relation to new hospital and health centre developments as well as major Local Government regeneration schemes), landlord and tenant, asset management and major land sales. We also have a dedicated, specialist property litigation and primary care teams.
The Role and Responsibilites
Our Property Litigation team is seeking an Associate in our Birmingham office.
We offer:
- A friendly supportive team looking to recruit for longer term development. Abi and Daniel, the two partners, both trained at Capsticks.
- A varied range of high quality work which makes a positive difference to our clients. Some examples of current cases include:
- Court action to remove a ‘bed blocker’ for an NHS trust
- Removing squatters from a central London property with an IPO for a charity;
- Court proceedings and arbitrations involving GP partnership disputes;
- Multi-millin pound dilapidations disputes;
- Strategic advice n MEES and Net Zero obligations across the NHS estate;
- Break notices to facilitate estate re-organisation;
- Judicial review of a planning decision for development of staff accommodation;
- Advising on restrictive covenants and easements for site disposals;
- 1954 Act security of tenure and lease renewals.
- Opportunities to collaborate with knowledgeable colleagues in other teams and to work in all the Firm’s sectors: health, housing, primary care, Local Authority and emergency services.
- Training and development. Property litigation experience is essential; public sector and partnership disputes experience is desirable but not vital.
- 1,350 hours billable hours target (FTE) with bonus scheme.
- Flexibility by default – work from home or the office (at least one day per week preferred but no hard rules) and with core hours policy.
