About the Job
Where you will be based:
-
This is a full time, shore based role, located at our base in Road Town, Tortola - the heart of the beautiful British Virgin Islands. This is the sailing capital of the world.
-
It's perfect for an experienced marine professional to transition to a land-based role.
Ready to transition ashore? If you are a marine professional looking for a land-based role that still keeps you connected to the docks, this is your opportunity. Conch Charters is a tight-knit, family-run business looking for an agile problem-solver to join our operations and brokerage team.
This is not a traditional desk job. Your day might start with troubleshooting an AC unit, pivot to preparing financial statements for a yacht owner, and end with expertly moving boats around our marina to fit the dock plan.
We are looking for someone with serious nautical common sense, a calm head under pressure, and the diplomacy to manage high-net-worth relationships. We can teach you the paperwork; we need you to bring the grit, organization, and technical experience & skills.
What You Will Actually Do:
-
Be the Face for Our Owners: Serve as the primary point of contact for yacht owners, answering queries, building strong relationships, and managing their concerns with transparency and tact.
-
Fleet Maintenance Support: Work closely with the Ops manager and technical team to ensure yachts and equipment are maintained to the highest standards. You will help troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and rigging issues.
-
The Guest Experience: Brief and debrief charter guests on yacht systems, review feedback forms, and ensure any technical issues affecting the fleet are swiftly addressed.
-
Brokerage & Office Administration: Maintain Charter Yacht Sales listings, respond to inquiries, and orchestrate yacht phase-ins and phase-outs.
-
Storm Prep: Step up when it matters most by assisting with the preparation of the fleet during hurricane season.
Your Absolute Non-Negotiables:
-
Composure Under Fire: You can handle emergency situations, angry guests, or approaching weather with a cool, calm, and collected demeanor.
-
Mechanical & Technical Aptitude: You aren’t afraid of an engine room. You have a solid foundational understanding of 12V electrical systems, marine plumbing, and mechanical troubleshooting.
-
Nautical Competence: You must be able to swim, sail, and snorkel. Genuine sailing experience is strictly required to understand the assets and the guests.
-
Diplomacy & Customer Service: You have an inherently professional approach and excellent communication skills, capable of delivering bad news gracefully or celebrating a successful charter with owners.
-
Computer Literacy: You must be highly organized and proficient in Microsoft Excel.
What We Will Train You On:
If you have the marine baseline and the right attitude, we will teach you the rest. You will receive full training on:
-
Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance documentation and brokerage paperwork.
-
Preparing precise owner statements using turnaround sheets, POS reports, and external invoices.
-
Processing fleet insurance claims and policy updates.
-
We are also willing to train the right candidate on video content creation to help showcase our fleet and brokerage listings.
