Role and responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality classroom teaching in Painting & Decorating and Multiskills, alongside tutorial and associated outreach duties, including residential, open and distance learning courses and student placements
- Undertake all associated organisational and administrative responsibilities, including lesson preparation, assessment and marking, as well as providing appropriate student welfare support and academic counselling
- Act as a Personal Tutor to students as required, including all associated pastoral care responsibilities
- Contribute fully to a collaborative team approach to learning and teaching
- Plan and deliver student-centred learning programmes in line with the College’s curriculum framework
- Implement agreed student induction procedures and ensure a smooth transition into programmes of study
- Ensure students clearly understand expectations at every stage of their learning journey, with regular reviews to reinforce programme requirements
- Set, assess and provide constructive feedback on assignments, tasks and practical activities to support student development and progression
- Contribute to the organisation and ensure the availability of appropriate industry work placements
Skills / Experience
- Highly motivated professional with strong industry experience in Painting & Decorating and/or Multiskills (e.g. plastering, carpentry, brickwork and general maintenance)
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of learners at all levels
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a busy environment
Qualifications:
- Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
- Level 4 qualification in the relevant area of expertise (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)
- Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe)
