Head of Maintenance
You’ll report to the Technical & Building Manager and be responsible for the Maintenance Technician, and casual maintenance staff. You’ll also work alongside the wider technical and Back of House team.
You will play a key role in ensuring our standards of presentation are exemplary. You will provide leadership to the Maintenance Technician and casual maintenance staff, ensuring a cohesive, efficient, cost effective and robust structure and day to day operation is in place that supports our future. You will assist the Technical & Building Manager in the implementation and monitoring of workplace safety and compliance across the maintenance operations of the venue. Ensuring contractors are fully aware of ATG policies and procedures.
This role is predominantly a hands-on role working throughout the venue, fixing and maintaining equipment and facilities, with some office work.
Please note, your role may involve working around children or vulnerable people.
Key responsibilities
- With a hands-on approach, ensure that the venue is presented to the highest standard, and that the venue is always safe for use by its staff and customers.
- Act as a Duty Person and building keyholder, taking responsibility for investigation of alarm conditions during day shifts.
- Efficiently manage and deliver planned and routine preventative maintenance across the building, plant, machinery, installations and external areas.
- Supervise and manage contractors working on site
- Programming of the Building Management system.
- Source information and quotes for work requiring the use of contractors.
- Work with our preferred contractors to ensure PPM work is carried out as and when required.
- Work with the Maintenance Technician and casual maintenance staff to ensure effective delivery of day-to-day maintenance duties.
- Carry out planned maintenance, testing and inspections.
- Maintain documentation relating to building services.
- Work with the Technical & Building Manager to ensure all operational procedures meet current legislation, working practices and ATG policies.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed to an appropriate standard.
- Ensure all COSHH records are kept up to date, with all products assessed and documented.
- Ensure that all Plant rooms and workshops are organised effectively.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Work within the set budgets relating to your area of operation and ensure they are achieved, reviewed, and reported on.

Essential
- Proven hands-on maintenance experience and basic skills spanning all relevant trade disciplines (carpentry, plumbing, painting & decorating, etc)
- Experience of staff management
- Proven successful experience of managing maintenance and operation of building plant, machinery, equipment and services, including use of service ticket, or task management systems
- Experience of Health and Safety management in a busy work environment
- Experience in Fire Safety including previous experience of weekly testing
- Experience in Legionnaires compliance and water testing
- BMS experience for setting up schedules for plant
- Experience in the implementation of safe systems of work and developing a safety culture
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Fully Computer literate – experienced in Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and other online systems
- A can-do attitude and a sportive, flexible approach to the job role, work colleagues and peers
- A strong delivery focus and a genuine desire to deliver excellent results every time
- Ability to manage and implement change
- Willing to work flexible hours in exceptional circumstances
Desirable
- Experience working in a comparable leisure or hospitality facility
- IOSH / NEBOSH or equivalent training
- Working At height Training
- Experience carrying out and/or overseeing portable appliance testing
- Experienced in writing Standard Operating Procedures, Method Statements and Risk Assessments
