Following a successful launch in 2010, and increasing demand for our services, Kingfisher Independent Funeral Services has a vacancy for a full time funeral director to join our close-knit team and become highly involved in all aspects of the business.
This is no ordinary position with an ordinary funeral director. The funerals we are privileged to arrange are highly individual, and it is absolutely vital that you share our passion for excellent client care and attention to detail. We frequently receive feedback that ‘nothing is too much trouble’ and this is the attitude that you must have to each and every client.
As a small, independent business, we necessarily turn our hands to anything from washing cars to conducting high-profile funerals, and you must be willing to become fully involved in everything we do.
Our funeral directors take complete responsibility for every funeral they arrange, from the initial contact with a client to conducting the funeral and beyond. They form a bond with their clients which enables us to guarantee a unique personal service. This is a vocation, not a 9-5 job, and sharing in out-of-hours duties will be expected. We operate a call-out service from 6am to 8pm every day, including weekends and bank holidays.
Based at our offices in St Neots, Huntingdon and St Ives, Cambridgeshire, you'll work in a variety of places, sometimes with colleagues, and sometimes on your own.
In return, we are offering the right person a good basic salary with contributory pension scheme, four weeks paid holiday per year (increasing after 3 and 5 years employment), use of a company vehicle when on call, a non-contractual profit-sharing scheme, and a chance to share in the success of the business in the future. This is also an excellent opportunity to gain a huge amount of personal satisfaction.
Kingfisher is an employee-owned business, and after a probationary period the successful applicant will have the same right to all benefits as the other members of staff.
You may have some experience of the profession, but this is not essential. However, you must be able to bring relevant experience to us, and you'll need to demonstrate this in your application. You must have a full, clean driving licence and be confidently computer-literate. The correct person with the necessary attitude is much more important than funeral experience or qualifications.
Please do not send AI-generated applications. It's important that we see your own personality and ability to write.
The closing date for applications is Tuesday 14th July 2026. Previous applicants need not apply.
Thank you for your interest in Kingfisher Independent Funeral Services, the only locally-owned, fully independent funeral directors with offices in St Neots, Huntingdon and St Ives, Cambridgeshire.
