The Vale Medical Practice (Wootton & Shortstown Practice), has an excellent opportunity for two practice administrators to join our busy support team, on a part-time basis for 27.5 hours per week. The successful applicants will work across both of our sites.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Provide full administrative support within the surgery working across a range of departments undertaking a range of administrative duties.
- Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
- Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.

If you are a well organised person, who thrives in a busy working environment where no two days are the same, we'd love to hear from you. Ideally candidates will have worked in a GP practice using TPP SystmOne or another GP clinical system.

- Able to multi-task, work hard and maintain a high level of attention to detail, when under pressure.
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as comfortable working independently.
Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
We are a friendly surgery with a list size of over 18,000 patients, over two sites: Wootton Vale, (MK43 9JJ), and branch site Shortstown Surgery, (MK42 0GS). Both practices are based on the outskirts of Bedford town centre and have easy access and free on-site car parking. Both practices share the same clinical and management teams, and are active members of our PCN, Caritas.
We have good appointment access, which means happy patients, and a strong teamwork ethos that includes an established clinical pharmacy team, GPs, nurses, physician associates, and a clinical liaison team who look after the clinical staff.
We embrace IT and automation and often pilot new innovations. We are an accredited GP training practice for nurses, pharmacists and doctors.
