Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Educational Tutor/Coordinator specialising in Maths and English to join our team. This role involves delivering high-quality tutoring sessions to students of aged 16+, including those with special educational need sand Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a hands-on role combining learning facilitation, tutoring and pathway coordination, with a strong focus on functional maths and English delivered through meaningful, real-world contexts.
You will support learners to develop essential numeracy, literacy and communication skills that build confidence, independence and readiness for adulthood, employment or further learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one-to-one and group tutoring sessions in Maths and English, tailored to individual student needs
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching materials aligned with curriculum intent and programme requirements.
- Assess student progress regularly and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
- Support students with special educational requirements by implementing inclusive teaching methods
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues regarding student development
Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE Maths & English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
- Relevant teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards).
- Safeguarding training/certification.
Desirable
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, particularly working with children or young learners
- Degree in Maths, English or related subject
- First Aid Qualification
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to motivate and engage students of diverse backgrounds
- Strong Knowledge of Maths and/or English
- Ability to deliver engaging, differentiated, and inclusive lessons
- Good ICT Skills and familiarity with digital learning tools
- Understanding of assessment, progress tracking, and intervention strategies.
- Understanding behaviour management strategies is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of working with special education needs (SEN) learners aged 16+ is desirable but not essential

Pay: £28,300.00-£30,900.00 per year
