Job Summary

Based at our Luton manufacturing plant you’ll do just that. Established in 1993, GKN Aerospace in Luton is a world leader in commercial and military ice protection systems and transparencies. Offering a full range of capabilities; design, analysis, testing, certification and manufacture of electro-thermal ice protection, military fast jet canopies and flight deck windows to over 20 programmes including: Boeing 787, Dreamliner, AgustaWestland, AW101, Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor. Our customers include Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopters, Textron, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Leonardo. Our Luton site is home to 370+ employees and onsite facilities including onsite parking, food hub and vending machines.

We're hiring a Logistics Specialists to be based at our Luton site supporting both our Defence and Civil business lines, reporting to the Logistics Team Leader. Working within the logistics team the Logistics Specialist will ensure the department meets business requirements and sales targets whilst working closely with other Supply Chain functions using several business systems. The role can cover all or partially: Inbound / Receiving, internal material movements, warehousing, outbound / shipping, freight/transport management, cycle counting, inventory management, transactional activities, packaging.

Core operational hours at our Luton site are: 07:30 - 16:30 Monday to Thursday & 07:30 - 12:30 Friday, earlier finish on Friday to start the weekend.

Job Responsibilities

Ensure safe working environment.
Complete logistics tasks with the objectives of reducing lead-time, reducing cost, improving customer service, quality and delivery
Maintain good working relationships with supporting departments such as Finance, Operations, Commercial, Purchasing, Supply Chain
Processing transactional activities to guarantee inventory accuracy in the management system (ERP, MRP).
Managing finished goods/stock and processing customer purchase orders, arranging shipping delivery and invoicing
Obtain documents to meet business/HMRC regulations
Process Inward Processing (IP) internal records
Process scrap
Book transport and maintain a relationship with couriers/freight forwarders

What You'll Bring

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

Essential:

Admininstration experience (or ability to fulfil administration tasks)
Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Office

Desirable:

Logistics experience gained from a manufacturing environment
Shipping processing experience using ERP systems
Experience of arranging transport for collection/delivery
SAP experience
