The Role
As Deputy Manager, you'll support the successful launch and day-to-day operation of the home, helping to create a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
You'll work closely with senior leaders to develop your management skills while supporting staff, driving quality standards, and ensuring the home delivers exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the registration and successful opening of the home
- Assist in recruiting, developing, and motivating a high-performing team
- Promote a trauma-informed and child-centred approach to care
- Support compliance with Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Contribute to safeguarding, care planning, audits, and quality assurance
- Assist with staff supervision, development, and performance management
- Help maintain a positive, stable, and nurturing environment for young people
- Work alongside senior leadership to continuously improve service delivery
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about improving the lives of children and young people and is eager to develop into a future Registered Manager.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years' experience within a children's residential setting
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and supporting young people with EBD
- Good knowledge of safeguarding, Ofsted requirements, and children's home regulations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- A proactive, positive, and child-focused approach
Desirable
- Working towards, or willing to complete, the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare
- Experience in a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, or Deputy Manager position
