This is a hands-on role where you’ll build, repair, and deploy real technology in the field — not just sit behind a desk. You’ll work with smart sensors, data systems, and connected devices that directly influence safety, performance, and decision-making in elite environments. You will be practical, organised, and comfortable working independently on site while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach. The role involves working with both hardware and supporting software systems and will occasionally require overnight stays during longer service trips.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Duties (St Neots)
- Support low‑volume production of TurfTrax hardware systems
- Service, repair, calibrate and validate electronic devices maintaining accurate service records
- Build and repair chargers, wiring and small electronic assemblies, and connectors (including soldering)
- Replace electronic and mechanical components (batteries, LCDs, switches) and assemble PCBs including through‑hole soldering
- Carry out defined calibration and validation procedures to ensure accuracy
- Carry out stock counts of components and consumables
Field Service Duties (UK and overseas travel)
- Travel to customer sites using a company van to service and maintain Weather Stations
- Carry out on‑site servicing including sensor replacement, wiring inspections, battery testing, cleaning, and preventative maintenance
- Undertake minor repairs on site where possible and report faults accurately
- Maintain the company van, tools, and spare parts to a high standard
- Represent TurfTrax professionally when dealing with customers
- Participate in multi-day service trips, including occasional overnight stays where required
General Duties
- Maintain accurate service records and reports using Microsoft Office and cloud-based systems such as HubSpot
- Use and support TurfTrax software tools and platforms, such as the TurfTrax Hub, Mezurit, GoingStick App and WTX monitoring (training provided)
- Follow internal production and quality processes
- Proactively diagnose faults and contribute improvement ideas
- Learn product‑specific knowledge (full training provided)
- Support colleagues as needed and assist with general administrative or technical tasks
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Minimum age of 21 due to company vehicle insurance requirements
- Full UK driving licence and confidence driving a company van
- Practical hands-on ability with small tools, wiring, connectors, basic electronic assemblies and basic soldering ability
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and cloud-based systems such as HubSpot
- Good written communication for service records and reports
- Organised, reliable, and able to work independently
- Willingness to learn Linux-based systems and use command-line tools (CLI) for basic tasks after training
- Interest in IoT devices
Desirable
- Previous experience in a junior technician or field‑service role
- Experience working directly with customers on site
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Exposure to Linux, Raspberry Pi, or embedded systems
- Experience with calibration, validation, or testing of technical equipment
- Driving experience through work
- Familiarity with racecourse, sports turf, or grounds management environments

Additional Information
- Participation in a rota covering some weekends and public holidays(on average 3-4 half‑days per month)
- Once fully trained, weekend rota duties can be carried out from home
- The role includes occasional overnight stays for extended service trips
- Initial interview by video call, followed by an in‑person intervie
Location: St Neots, Cambridgeshire (with UK travel; occasional overseas travel)
Contract: Full‑time
Reporting to: Operations Manager (working closely with the Technical Team)
Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 depending on experience
