Ferring Country Centre is charity which supports people with learning disabilities. In addition to our Day Service our Garden Centre, Ranger's Café, Gift Shop, Dales Farm, and Riding School are open to the general public, seven days per week.
The role of Maintenance Technician is to work within a team to maintain Ferring Country Centre’s buildings and grounds to a consistently high standard, ensuring a safe, secure and welcoming environment for beneficiaries, staff and visitors.
The post holder, as a member of the maintenance team, will model good practice, advising on maintenance issues as required, whilst representing the values of the organisation at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
The specific responsibilities of this flexible role may alter from time to time to meet the needs of the organisation but will include those listed below:
· Working closely with the Premises Manager in order to identify daily/weekly/monthly priorities.
· Complete tasks assigned by the Premises Manager.
· Lock and unlock buildings and areas on site as a key holder, assist with regular security checks and operate alarm systems where appropriate (some out of hour’s work may be required).
· Assist with small site improvement projects and repairs both internally and externally (e.g. fencing, plumbing, electrics, unblocking drains, repairs across site).
· Assist with grounds and field maintenance.
· Operate heating, cooling and lighting systems.
· Ensure the safety of internal and external environments (e.g. carry out emergency cleaning and gritting)
· Undertaking tasks requiring the use of a variety of machinery, i.e. loader, tractor and manual equipment, such as an auger.
· Complete all work records as required.
· Refill and replace consumables and maintain day to day site housekeeping.
· Identify, report and resolve hazards promptly, seeing actions through to completion.
· Apply health and safety standards at all times and work alongside contractors to keep everyone on site safe.
· Conduct basic vehicle checks and maintenance.
Any other duties reasonably required by the organisation.
Essential skills:
- Relevant qualification or practical experience completing general repairs (basic plumbing, joinery, minor electrics)
- Experience in maintenance work
- Experience in completing statutory and compliance checks
- A full valid UK driving licence is essential for this role
Shift pattern:
Minimum of 22.5 hours per week.
Monday - Wednesday 9:00 - 17:00
Evening and weekend working may be required.
