JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for managing driver performance, o-licence compliance, retention and engagement.
Collaborate with the wider PAL business unit in creating a 'best in class' approach to Fleet operations, fulfilment, compliance and co-ordination of the GRS Group service demands, enabling the delivery of contracted service obligations and legal standards.
Support a continuous focus on improving, tyre and fuel efficiency, to drive asset life, availability and sustainability.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is an important role within GRS, with primary responsibility to:

Support the Group Driver Manager, Fleet Mgr and RTM's with adherence to all compliance and legal obligations, with a hugh focus on Driver retention, engagement and safety

Assist and manage where required with the execution of the daily fleet maintenance plan, with a view to deliver maximum fleet availability
- Ensure all procedures and processes are followed and that we operate a safe and efficient environment, including the safe operation of vehicles, inspection, maintenance, and repair

Manage and lead on driver recruitment, with the HR department to ensure all driver vacancies are advertised and actively monitored/filled in an efficient manner

Manage and utilise Lead and Mobile drivers effectively for training and cover needs.

Carry out all HR procedures when needed, Be expected to have conversations with drivers around conduct and compliance and have the confidence to take the next steps when needed.

Ensure all PPE is issued and used correctly

Carry out TBT's in line with H+S guidelines
- Ensure of aspects of the TMS systems are utilised fully in respect of driver data
- Use operational and fleet performance related data to report on KPI's for your area and department, as well as establishing corrective actions to improve performance against KPIs

Assist compliance team in arranging driver training.

Manage the onboarding of new drivers & agency drivers, including inductions, to ensure a smooth, safe and efficient transition in to the business
- Manage all daily operational driver aspects, including holiday, sickness and absence, including the sourcing of agency drivers as and when required
- Interface with all Transport planning colleagues, to deliver highest levels of vehicle utilization

Support agreed framework to improve driver engagement, supporting higher levels of colleague retention, with a visible felt leadership approach

Work closely with the GDM on Coaching and analysis around driver performance.

Mentor, develop and coach lead Drivers to create built in capacity to fulfil key tasks

Carry all required gate checks
- Be willing to travel to sites in your area to show visible felt leadership this is not an office based role.

Responsibility for compliance and discharging legal duties with regards to HR and Health & Safety to promote a safe, equitable and legally compliant work place.
