As we continue to expand across Kent and beyond, we are seeking a passionate, energetic, and ambitious SEN Tutor & Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team.
About the Role
You will work directly with children and young adults aged 3–25 years with a range of additional needs and learning difficulties.
The role combines specialist tutoring, behaviour support, community-based learning, life skills development, and family support.
You may be required to teach learners working significantly below age-related expectations, including those accessing the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage curriculum, Functional Skills, Entry Level Qualifications, GCSE Programmes and Personalised Curricula.
Many of our learners require highly differentiated teaching approaches and practical, hands-on learning experiences.
No two days are the same. One day, you may be teaching phonics and early communication skills to a young autistic learner, while the next, you may be supporting a young adult with budgeting, travel training, employability skills, or community access.
Key Responsibilities: Education & SEN Tuition
You will:
- Deliver one-to-one and small group tuition.
- Teach learners across EYFS, Primary, Secondary and Post-16 pathways.
- Deliver lessons in literacy, numeracy, communication, functional academics, and life skills.
- Teach foundational and pre-academic skills where appropriate.
- Support learners working towards EHCP outcomes.
- Adapt learning materials to meet individual learner needs.
- Develop engaging and motivating learning activities.
- Monitor and record learner progress.
- Prepare learners for qualifications and accreditation pathways where appropriate.
Behaviour Support
You will:
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
- Support emotional regulation and self-management.
- Collect and record behaviour data.
- Use proactive behaviour support strategies.
- Promote independence and positive behaviour change.
- Support learners during periods of dysregulation using approved de-escalation approaches.
Community Integration & Life Skills
You will:
- Deliver community-based learning activities.
- Support travel training and independent living skills.
- Facilitate social skills and communication opportunities.
- Support learners to access leisure and recreational activities.
- Develop vocational readiness and employability skills.
- Promote meaningful participation in community life.
Alternative Provision & EOTAS
You will:
- Deliver educational programmes to learners unable to access traditional school placements.
- Support learners educated through EOTAS packages.
- Contribute to reintegration planning where appropriate.
- Liaise effectively with schools, local authorities, and families.
Business Development & Service Growth

You will be expected to:
- Act as a positive ambassador for Pleasant Places SENtre.
- Support parent engagement activities.
- Attend community events and networking opportunities.
- Assist with workshops, open days, and information sessions.
- Build positive relationships with schools, families, and professionals.
- Contribute ideas to support service growth and development.
- Support the promotion of the organisation through community outreach and marketing initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to develop new services and partnerships.

Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children or young adults with SEND.
- Experience supporting individuals with learning difficulties and/or autism.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and person-centred practice.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or qualification in Education, Psychology, Behaviour Analysis, Child Development, Health & Social Care, SEND or a related field.
- Teaching Assistant qualification.
- ABA, PBS, RBT, ABAT, QASP-S or similar training.
- Experience teaching EYFS, Primary or Functional Skills.
- Experience working in Alternative Provision or EOTAS.
- Experience supporting learners with autism and learning disabilities.
