We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead our operations, ensure regulatory compliance, drive business growth, and maintain exceptional service standards.
The Role
As General Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the operational, financial, and commercial performance of the business. You will lead a team of managers, supervisors, security officers, and control room personnel while ensuring compliance with SIA Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) requirements, ISO 9001 Quality Management Standards, and all relevant industry legislation.
The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with a strong background in the security industry and a proven track record of delivering operational excellence and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee all security operations, including:
- Static Security Guarding
- Mobile Patrol Services
- Key Holding & Alarm Response
- CCTV Control Room Operations
- Corporate Security Services
- Ensure contracts are delivered in line with client service level agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor service performance and implement corrective actions where required.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism and customer service across all sites.
Compliance & Quality Management
- Ensure full compliance with:
- Security Industry Authority (SIA) legislation
- SIA Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) requirements
- ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- Health & Safety legislation
- Employment law and industry regulations
- Lead internal and external quality audits.
- Maintain documented policies, procedures, and operational records.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the business.
CCTV & Control Room Management
- Oversee CCTV monitoring and control room operations.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and surveillance regulations.
- Manage incident reporting, escalation procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Monitor key performance indicators and service delivery metrics.
Mobile Patrols & Response Services
- Oversee mobile patrol teams and response officers.
- Ensure efficient route planning and service coverage.
- Review patrol reports and client feedback.
- Implement measures to improve response times and operational efficiency.
People Management
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
- Manage Operations Managers, Supervisors, Controllers, and Security Officers.
- Conduct performance reviews and training programmes.
- Promote a positive culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous development.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Manage operational budgets.
- Analyse business performance and identify growth opportunities.
- Support tender submissions and contract negotiations.
- Develop relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Ensure efficient utilisation of resources and labour costs.
Client Relationship Management
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients.
- Conduct regular client review meetings.
- Resolve escalated operational issues effectively.
- Identify opportunities for contract expansion and additional services.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' senior management experience within the security industry.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- SIA Licensing Requirements
- SIA Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS)
- ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Security Guarding Operations
- Mobile Patrol Management
- CCTV Control Room Operations
- Key Holding & Alarm Response Services
- Experience managing operational teams across multiple locations.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Excellent communication and client management skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Security management qualification.
- Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification.
- Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH / IOSH).
- Experience within accredited ACS security businesses.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- CCTV Operator and Security Guarding licences.
