Job Summary
This role reports to the Head of Quality. The Principal Quality Engineer will lead a team a quality engineers ensuring that all products meet stringent product safety and regulatory standards. They provide the highest level of engineering subject matter expertise to drive forward product quality and overall compliance.
This role involves overseeing the development and implementation of quality inspection procedures; will work alongside the operations and manufacturing engineering team to improve operational performance; will monitor the manufacturing and assembly processes ensuring that products conform to drawing requirements, defined specifications, industry standards and customer expectations.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide leadership, support and guidance to a team of QA Engineers and Technicians.
- Establish/support quality policies and procedures that are followed throughout the business that contribute to consistent high-class performance in all areas.
- Defines the overall quality framework, standards, specifications and tolerances for each allocated product line, ensuring Survitec products meet best in class safety performance. Assesses the effectiveness of production processes in delivering those standards within the organisation and within third-party production partners.
- Develop, promote and lead continuous improvement activities.
- Lead and support Problem Solving Activities (3C, 8D’s, A3’s) focusing on identifying the root cause(s) and defining containment and permanent corrective actions to avoid reoccurrence. Ensuring processes or working practices and reviewed and updated to remove or mitigate any production quality issues; focusing on change management to address issues and deliver sustained improvements.
- Ensure Safety Management System processes are effective, focusing on ensuring Safety Action Group is overseeing operational product safety, resolving identified risks, assessing impact, implementing corrective actions.
- Promote Product Safety Policy and culture of continuous improvement within our management system and our personnel. Focusing on actively encouraging the reporting of safety related incidents and the voluntary reporting of potential hazards to the organisation in a “Just Culture” environment.
- Monitor and report quality and product safety KPI’s and initiate improvement plans when appropriate.
- Proactively support the resolution of Non-Conformance Reports in a timely and efficient manner as well as supporting dispositions and reviews of non-conforming products.
- Ensure customer (Internal and External) satisfaction are the focus of continuous improvement.
- Support the production readiness process as part of a cross functional team to ensure the required quality standard can be achieved on a consistent basis.
- Performing detailed analysis and interpretation of quality data. Preparing quality reports and trend analysis.

Experience and qualification
Degree level qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant Quality or Engineering experience.
