Position: Automation Engineer (Full-Time)
Job Description:
Tamaki Control specialises in industrial automation and process control systems, with projects typically involving Siemens PLCs, Rockwell PLCs and Ignition SCADA.
Our customers are located throughout the UK and Ireland, with occasional international projects. Engineers may occasionally travel to customer sites for meetings, commissioning and support.
At Tamaki Control, candidates will join a team of Automation Engineers who are responsible for the initial concept, design, development and delivery of bespoke customer solutions. The candidate will participate in all the processes that contribute to the success of each project.
This involves the following:
- Process/Machine Control design based on Process & Instrumentation Drawings.
- Preparation of Functional Descriptions and Equipment Lists.
- PLC Programming and HMI/SCADA Screen Building and Interface Design.
- Software Simulations and Factory Operator Training on new systems.
- Installation and Commissioning of Control Systems on our customers' sites.
- Supporting existing customer systems.
- Participation in the team on-call support rota for customer systems.
- Assistance with training new starters.
- Assistance with other office tasks.
Experience Required:
- SCADA Systems, such as Inductive Automation’s Ignition and Siemen’s WinCC.
- Background in PLC programming with software tools such as Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal, and PCS7. Experience with Allen-Bradley software is also beneficial.
- Industrial networking (ASi, Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
- Proven track record of implementing automation projects, and/or fault finding, troubleshooting and supporting industrial sites.
Years Experience: 2–4 years’ experience in industrial automation or control systems.
Degree (Desirable): 2:1 or above in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred but other disciplines/qualifications will be considered).

- Must be able to commute to Belfast Office.
Location: Belfast Office and travel to customers site for meetings and commissioning (typically around 10-20%).
Hours: 40 hours per week, but may be required to work longer hours including evenings / weekends / nights when commissioning.
Salary: £45,000 to £60,000+ typical total annual earnings depending on experience, billable hours and project involvement, plus overtime, call out rates and profit share.
Engineers are paid hourly. All hours worked are paid at a base hourly rate. When work can be invoiced to a customer, an additional billable hourly rate is paid on top of the base rate.
Employees are also eligible to participate in the company profit share scheme after 12 months of employment.
