Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Barista/ Café Assistant to join our team. Shifts are predominately Mon - Fri although some weekends are required to cover holidays etc. Currently there are full time hours available however during the winter months it will be part time.
As a Café Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our café. Your main responsibilities will be customer focused taking orders, making hot and cold handcrafted drinks to our recipes & method, using an epos till, cleaning & washing dishes , some food preparation, maintaining food safety standards, assisting customers, and managing your time effectively. This is an all year round position. Due to our location a driving licence is necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve beverages to customers in a friendly and efficient manner
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness of work areas
- Assist customers with menu selection and provide recommendations
- Handle cash transactions and operate the cash register accurately
- Maintain inventory levels and restock items as needed
- Clean tables, chairs, and other cafe areas as well as washing dishes to ensure a clean and inviting environment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure excellent customer service
- Follow company policies and procedures at all times
Skills:
- Ability to learn and follow direction accurately
- Previous Barista experience
- Food safety: Knowledge of or willingness to learn proper food handling procedures to maintain hygiene standards
- Basic math skills: Ability to perform simple calculations for cash handling purposes
- Helpfulness: Willingness to assist customers with their needs and provide excellent service
- Time management: Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, resilient and capable of working in a fast paced busy environment.
