Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Coffee Shop Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, preparing and serving a variety of beverages and food items, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop barista skills and gain valuable experience within the hospitality industry.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks, ensuring quality standards are met
Assist customers with their orders in a friendly and professional manner
Handle food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, snacks, or light meals as required
Maintain cleanliness of the work area, including cleaning equipment, counters, and seating areas
Ensure food safety standards are adhered to at all times
Manage cash register operations accurately and efficiently
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts
Provide excellent customer service by addressing enquiries and resolving issues promptly
Follow health and safety guidelines to create a safe environment for staff and customers

Requirements

Previous barista experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Friendly attitude with excellent communication skills
Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends and early mornings if required

Pay: £12.21-£14.36 per hour
