Senior Animal Welfare Assistant
We are seeking a Senior Animal Welfare Assistant to join our established, professional boarding facility.
This is a genuine step up opportunity for an experienced animal care professional who is ready to take increased responsibility within a structured, high-standard environment.
This is not an entry-level position.
Responsibilities
You will play a key operational role within a busy, disciplined boarding environment where standards are non-negotiable.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining strict hygiene and biosecurity standards
- Feeding, medication administration and accurate record keeping
- Health and behavioural monitoring
- Implementing structured care plans and enrichment
- Confident handling of dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Identifying welfare concerns promptly and escalating appropriately
- Supporting daily team coordination during peak periods
- Leading by example and upholding operational standards
- This role includes front-of-house responsibilities. You must be confident interacting with customers, handling enquiries and representing the business professionally, particularly during busy seasonal periods.
This is a physically demanding role involving cleaning, lifting and being on your feet for most of the day.
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Minimum Level 2 Animal Welfare qualification (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- Minimum 1 year experience within kennels, cattery boarding, dog training or similar
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers and colleagues
- Accurate record keeping and strong attention to detail
- Confident dog handling skills
- Physically fit and capable
- Full driving license
- Reliable transport

Working Pattern
Animal care operates 365 days a year.
This role includes:
- Regular weekend work
- Bank Holidays
- Easter, Summer, half terms, Christmas & New Year
- Shift work
- Early starts and late finishes
- Restricted holiday during peak periods
